About Us ~
Wild Rover German Shorthaired Pointers is a small, home-based kennel located in Joliet, Illinois. We have had an active interest in the breed since 2007 when we purchased our first shorthair. Since then we have attempted almost anything a shorthair could possibly do. Our dogs participate in numerous AKC events, such as: Conformation, Hunting Tests, Field Trials, Obedience, Rally, Agility and this fall we will start Tracking for the first time. We also compete our dogs in the NAVHDA Natural Ability and Utility tests. Our dogs are registered AKC, UKC, NAVHDA, and NADAC and compete in events in these venues. We want our dogs to excel in what they were bred to do, so we strive to train our dogs to the highest level possible. We spend our time in the fall/winter hunting our dogs on various game. During the remainder of the year we devote our free time to working our dogs and assisting the many clubs we belong to and volunteering at their various events.
We are active members of the following Organizations:
* German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America
* German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Illinois
* Fort Dearborn GSP Club
* German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Wisconsin
* German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Eastern Iowa
* Stone City Kennel Club
* NAVHDA International
* Illinois NAVHDA
* ILOWA NAVHDA
We currently serve as an officer/event committee member on more than one of these organizations. Sean is also an AKC Pointing Breeds Hunting Test Judge. We believe in the breed and have decided to devote our time into assisting people who need help acheiving their goals with their dogs.
